Built from the belief that better questions can lead to better conversations.

Our Story

CivicLens began with a situation many people have experienced: a conversation about the news that starts casually, whether in a school cafeteria, around the dinner table at Thanksgiving, or with friends after class, and quickly turns into a disagreement because everyone seems to be working from a different version of the story.

Everyone had heard something different. Everyone felt confident. But instead of becoming a thoughtful conversation, it became tense and uncomfortable. It felt like we were not trying to understand the issue anymore. We were defending the version of the story we had already accepted.

That moment stuck with us.

News should help people understand the world, but it can also leave people feeling isolated inside one perspective. CivicLens was created to help readers slow down, examine how a story is framed, and ask better questions before deciding what they believe.

Our goal is not to replace human judgment.

Our goal is to strengthen it.
